L'azienda viene fondata nel 1984 a Manisa, dove tutt'oggi ha sede. Nel 1988 entra a far parte di Polly Peck, gruppo britannico controllato dal magnate turco-cipriota Asil Nadir.

Nel 1994 l'azienda viene rilevata dalla Zorlu Holding, grosso gruppo industriale turco della famiglia Zorlu. Da allora l'azienda che ha assunto l'attuale denominazione, ha conosciuto una grande fase ascendente che l'ha portata ad essere oggi un gruppo di notevoli dimensioni. Operante in vari settori, quelli più significativi sono quelli dell'elettronica civile (televisori, lettori DVD, set-top box) e quella degli elettrodomestici (forni, frigoriferi, lavatrici, etc.), prodotti con il marchio Vestel e per conto terzi con altri marchi, in due stabilimenti a Manisa e ad Alexandrov in Russia, con una capacità produttiva annua di circa 30 milioni di pezzi.

Il Gruppo conta 15.000 dipendenti, esporta in 127 paesi in Europa, Medio Oriente e Nordafrica, ed è leader di mercato in Turchia nel settore tv. In Italia i televisori sono stati commercializzati anche con il marchio originale Vestel ma soprattutto con marchi acquisiti e noti ai clienti italiani tra cui Telefunken ed Inno Hit
